Some participants are uncomfortable with technology.
Start on paper and add one simple digital step at a time.
Add one simple technology step only when useful.
Not everyone wants to launch a podcast.
That is fine. The finished experience can be conversation, a plan, a voice memo or simply an enjoyable group activity.
Could this work across generations?
Yes. Use shared interests, interviews, mentoring and skill exchange to bring older and younger adults together.
What makes this useful for a senior center?
It can refresh an enrichment calendar with something current, social, creative and flexible without requiring
expensive equipment.
Do we have to focus on life stories?
No. Use hobbies, recipes, careers, music, sports, faith, travel, community history, humor, skills or any topic
participants enjoy.
Our instructors are not podcast experts.
They do not need to be. The guide works as a facilitation and communication tool, with optional support when helpful.
Is bulky, expensive podcasting equipment needed?
Absolutely not!
Podcasting can be done by simply recording from a capable and enabled smart phone or with very simple digital device such as a tablet, etc.
A studio set-up is not needed.
A table, the guides, phones if appropriate and a facilitator are enough to start; planning-only sessions are valid.
